Armed Iraqi Groups Reportedly Launch Eight Strikes on US Installations
The group stated that armed factions were responsible for the missions, employing drones and missiles to strike US positions in Iraq as well as nearby areas.
The announcement did not include further specifics.
Tensions across the region have intensified since the United States and Israel initiated a coordinated strike on Iran on Feb. 28. Those attacks have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 1,300 individuals in Iran, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states that host US military assets, leading to casualties and infrastructure damage while also unsettling global markets and air travel.
